GPS vehicle tracking in Pakistan has become an essential tool for car owners, businesses, and fleet operators. But how does it actually work? This guide explains the technology in simple terms.
The Three Components of GPS Tracking
- The GPS Device — Installed hidden in your vehicle, receives satellite signals and transmits location data
- The Server — E-Tracking’s cloud infrastructure receives and processes all location data in real time
- The App / Web Portal — You view live location, history, alerts, and controls on your phone or computer
Step by Step: How It Works
Step 1 — Satellite Signal
The GPS device continuously receives signals from multiple GPS satellites. By calculating signal arrival times from at least 4 satellites, the device determines its precise latitude, longitude, speed, and direction.
Step 2 — Data Transmission via GSM Network
The device contains a built-in SIM card (included in your package) and transmits location data to E-Tracking servers over Pakistan’s 4G/LTE network — every 10-30 seconds depending on your package.
Step 3 — Server Processing
E-Tracking’s servers update the live map, log trip history, check geofence boundaries, monitor speed limits, and detect alert conditions in real time.
Step 4 — You See It in Real Time
Open the E-Tracking mobile app and see your vehicle moving on the map. If your car exceeds the speed limit, crosses a geofence, or someone tampers with the device, you get an instant push notification and SMS alert.
What Can You Control Remotely?
- Engine Kill — Cut the engine from your phone if the car is stolen
- Engine Resume — Re-enable the engine remotely
- Geofence Setup — Draw a virtual boundary; get alerted when the car leaves it
- Speed Limit — Set a maximum speed and get alerted if exceeded
- Voice Listening — Listen to audio inside the vehicle via phone call (Premium Plus)
How Accurate is GPS Tracking in Pakistan?
E-Tracking uses high-accuracy GPS chipsets with typical accuracy of 5-10 metres in open areas. The system is reliable across Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, and all major cities of Pakistan.
